Good morning! It's March 14. Here are some of the stories we covered for you last week.
Friday, March 13:
An ROTC class subdued and killed a gunman who shot three people in a shooting attack at Old Dominion University that is being investigated as a terrorist attack, FBI officials confirmed.
Dominique Evans, the special agent in charge of the Norfolk FBI field office, confirmed the shooter was Mohamed Bailor Jalloh, a former Army National Guardsman who pleaded guilty to plotting a terrorist attack on U.S. soil and was sentenced to prison in 2017.
Thursday, March 12:
The city of Williamsburg pulled back $5 million it had transferred to the local recreational authority last year for a music venue, just weeks after a citizen called out the city on the legality of the payment.
Wednesday, March 11:
It was standing room only at the James City County supervisors’ meeting Tuesday, as some 100 lacrosse players from all three high schools and their families joined others with business before the board.
Players from Lafayette, Warhill and Jamestown high schools asked the board to add an additional $225,000 to the local schools’ $220 million proposed budget to fund lacrosse and make it a part of the Virginia High School League.
Tuesday, March 10:
Drivers in the Historic Triangle are paying more at the pump this week as the conflict in the Middle East rages on.
Monday, March 9:
James City County is considering selling the building Olde Towne Medical & Dental Center has used to provide care to uninsured area residents since 1993, creating uncertainty for the future of the nonprofit group.
