Thursday was the day for local governments to explain their budgets and justify increases to skeptical taxpayers.
Thursday, April 9:
James City County Republicans held a combination fundraiser and pep rally against the redistricting referendum Wednesday night, fighting what U.S. Rep Rob Wittman, R-1st, called “the biggest challenge our party has faced in its entire history, and that is its very existence.”
Wednesday, April 8:
The Williamsburg Health Foundation is working through this year’s first round of grant applications for the millions of dollars it distributes annually to nonprofits to provide healthcare, housing and medical transportation across the Historic Triangle.
Tuesday, April 7:
York County’s proposed budget includes $27 million to build a library at the north end of the county, in case it pulls out of the Williamsburg Regional Library system.
Monday, April 6:
Virginia Peninsula Community College’s Historic Triangle campus is launching two short-term workforce training programs to place students into jobs in high demand in the area: hospitality and nursing care.





JCC Commissioner Stevens budget forces residents to continue cutting into our household expenses...He should not defend double digit tax increases with comments that play on fear of reducing services....especially since the real impact is coming from non-essential debt & expenditures. This county remains unwilling to manage responsibly.
