Strong local turnout in early voting

It’s Sept. 29. The first week of early voting was heavy in the Historic Triangle; First Congressional District had the largest turnout in Virginia. Political operatives disagree on what that means.

Voter turnout was strong during the first week of early voting in our area, more than doubling the turnout in 2022, according to the nonpartisan Virginia Public Access Project.

About three quarters of voters turned out in person rather than using mail in ballots.

The First Congressional District, where Republican incumbent Rob Wittman faces former Henrico prosecutor Shannon Taylor, had the highest early voting turnout in Virginia.
