James City County police arrested a 14-year-old county boy Thursday and charged him with shooting into a house in the 200 block of Tarleton Bivouac.
The shootings, which occurred Wednesday night shortly before 8 p.m., injured a 20-year-old man who is in stable but critical condition in the intensive care unit of Riverside Regional Medical Center, police said.
“At the time of the shooting, seven individuals—including two children—were inside the home. More than two dozen shell casings were recovered, “ a police statement said.
The alleged shooter, whom police would not identify because he is a juvenile, is being detained at the Merrimac Detention Center.
He has been charged with one count each of malicious wounding, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, reckless handling of a firearm, shooting into an occupied dwelling, and juvenile in possession of a firearm.
