Modified lockdown in place at York County's Grafton Bethel elementary
no evidence of active threat; families urged to stay away
Grafton Bethel elementary school was placed on what authorities called “a precautionary modified lockdown” following a reported phone threat Friday morning.
A spokesperson for the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said that means entry and exit to the school is restricted, but students and staff follow normal indoor routines while law enforcement and school officials investigate.
She said there is no evidence of an active threat and urged families to stay away from the school to let law enforcement and school officials work without interruption.
