A man died in a house fire in the First Colony subdivision Wednesday night, the James City County fire department announced.

A neighbor called in the fire, saying flames were coming from the rear of the house in the 100 block of Jordans Journey, Fire Chief Ryan Ashe said in a press release.

Fire crews arrived to find fire billowing from two sides of the house. Because of the intensity, fire crews attacked the blaze from outside the house before going inside to search for victims.

A man was found dead inside, Ashe said. The victim’s identity was not revealed.
