James City County voters have been voting steadily throughout the day, James City County Director of Elections Dianna S. Moorman told Williamsburg Watch this evening.
“It has been steady,” she said, even though the county saw large numbers of early voters who cast ballots during the past 45 days.
“We are only a couple of thousand away from a presidential election year,” which normally has the highest voting participation, Moorman said.
As of 3 p.m. today, 32.47% of registered county voters had voted in the current election, which includes two house of delegates seats, two board of supervisors and two school board seats, and the statewide slate for governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general.
There are 66,012 registered voters in James City’s 18 precincts.
Early votes in person are tabulated as they are cast, but the vote counts are not released until 7 p.m. tonight, Moorman explained.
