I-64 overnight closure anounced

All lanes on I-64 east between exit 220 and exit 227 will be closed overnight Tuesday, Oct. 21, the Virginia Department of Transportation announced. The backup date will be Oct. 22, depending on weather and schedules.

VDOT said the eastbound lanes would be closed for up to 4 hours between 10 p.m. and 2 a.m. from the Eltham Road exit in New Kent County (exit 220) and the Old Stage Road exit in James City County (exit 227).

Detour signs will be placed directing traffic. VDOT is encouraging drivers to check 511 if they plan travel during those hours on Tuesday and Wednesday.
